Starting Per Adult
Day 01: Arrive Cochin - Thekkady (Approx 4 Hrs Drive)
Arrive Cochin Airport (COK) / Ernakulam Railway Station (ERS/ERN) where our representative will be waiting with a PLACARD of your name. Meet & Greet & proceed to Thekkady for check-in to hotel. Thekkady is a world famous wildlife sanctuary and it is also called as Periyar. On arrival, check in at the resort. Afternoon proceed to visit the spice plantations like cardamom, cinnamon, pepper, coffee, tea estates, proceed for a game viewing cruise on the Periyar Lake. Here you will be able to see a large variety of wildlife, which include elephants, monkeys, deer, wild boar etc. Evening you can take an Elephant ride (optional) at Periyar wildlife to watch wild animals. On your way back to the hotel, stop at the local market and pick up some fragrant spices; Overnight stay at Thekkady.
Day 02: Thekkady (Nature Walk / Green Walk / Cloud Walk)
Morning after breakfast this day marks your start to the meeting with the Nature.
Activity Choice 1: Nature Walk - Level: Beginner
This is an interpretive program offering excellent opportunity to watch birds, butterflies and other wildlife. Different nature trails traversing diverse habitats form the trekking routes, generally 4 to 5 km in length. The trails often pass through evergreen and moist deciduous forests interspersed with marshy grasslands. The Program includes trekking along each nature trail, covering the boat-landing - Kokkara route, accompanied by a trained tribal guide. Nature walk is the right program to feel nature, hear her whispers and smell her flowers.
Activity Choice 2: Green Walk - Level: Beginner
This is an interpretive program offering excellent opportunity to watch birds, butterflies and other wildlife. Different nature trails traversing diverse habitats form the trekking routes, generally 4 to 5 km in length. The trails often pass through evergreen and moist deciduous forests interspersed with marshy grasslands. The program includes trekking along each nature trail, covering the Anavachal/Anchuruli area, accompanied by a trained tribal guide. Nature walk is the right program to feel nature, hear her whispers and smell her flowers.
Activity Choice 3: Cloud Walk - Level: Intermediate
The program is a long guided trek for approximately 3 to 4 hours which starts from Gandhi Park at Kolathupalam, passing through the Kurisumala view point, gets down to the Tribal Heritage Museum located at Mannakudy Tribal settlement and concludes at Anavachal. From the vantage point, you can have a look at grasslands, evergreen, deciduous and riverine forests and the expanses of irrigated arid land across the border where the nectar from Periyar provides the breath of life. Visitors can see the exuberance of Cumbam Valley, the dizzying heights of Mangaladevi, Kumarikulam and other escarpements of the Fort of Periyar, glory of Palni hills farther away from the view point, habitat specialist birds and butterflies including endemics like the Nilgiri Pipit, broad-tailed grass bird, tree nymph etc.
Later return to hotel for overnight at Thekkady.
Day 03: Thekkady (Border Trekking)
Morning post breakfast, Proceed for your Eco activity of the day:
Border Trekking - Level: Intermediate to Expert
This is a conservation-oriented hard trek taking up a full day, starting at 8 am and ending at 5 pm, covering 15 km. The route passes through undulating terrains. Altitudinal ranges of 900 meters to 1300 meters will be covered and trekkers obtain glimpses of the lofty escarpments bordering the park watershed and the vast plains down below. Gaur, sloth bear, elephant etc. are often sighted along this route apart from birds and butterflies. The trekkers will go with two guides and an armed forest guard. Vegetarian refreshments can be had en route. Later return to hotel for overnight at Thekkady.
Day 04: Thekkady - Cherai (approx. 4 hrs drive)
Morning post breakfast check-out and proceed to Cherai. Cherai is sheer eye candy! Located at just about 25 Kms from Kochi It is a delectable combination of green paddy fields, coconut palms, backwaters and of course, the omnipresent Arabian Sea. The unique position enjoyed by Cherai in the tourism map of Kerala stems from the fact that it is strategically located. One side borders the Arabian Sea and the Backwaters border the other side. The beach frontage and the backwater frontage have given Cherai such magnificent scenic beauty that it is doubtful if such beauty spots exist anywhere else in Kerala. Local tour (Optional) that can be covered is of Cochin - Visit all the major tourist attractions which cover Dutch Palace, Jewish Synagogue, St. Francis Church, and Chinese fishing nets. In the evening visit Cochin beach and 6.30pm proceed for a Kathakali show (optional), Kerala's own classical dance drama program; overnight stay at Cherai.
Day 05: Cherai - Cochin (25 kms - 30 mins)
Morning have breakfast relax until it is time to drive to Cochin and as per your flight/train schedule you will be dropped at airport/railway station to return back home with happy memories.
